Our Mission

  • “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

God created the world and made us to be in loving relationship with him. Though created good, human nature became fatally flawed, and we are now all out of step with God. In Bible language, we are sinners, guilty before God and separated from him.

The good news of the Gospel is that God took loving action in Jesus Christ to save us from this dire situation. The key facts of this divine remedy are these: God the Father sent his eternal Son into this world to reconcile us to himself, to free us to love and serve him, and to prepare us to share his glory in the life to come. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary through the Holy Spirit, lived a perfect life, died for our sins, and rose bodily from the dead to restore us to God. Given authority by his Father, Jesus now rules in heaven as King over all things, advancing God’s kingdom throughout the world. In the fullness of time, Jesus will return to establish his kingdom in its glory on earth, and all things will be renewed.

Reigning in heaven over all things, Jesus Christ continues to draw sinners to himself. He enables us by his Holy Spirit to turn wholeheartedly from our sinful and self-centered ways (repentance), and to entrust ourselves to him to live in union and communion with him (faith). In spiritual terms, sin is the way of death, and fellowship with Christ is the way of life.

  • Through the proclamation of the gospel by our campus missionaries, we are inviting students into union and communion with God and his people.

  • Through one-on-one discipleship, regular reading and study of Scripture, fellowship, hospitality, and daily prayer, our campus missionaries will continually lead students to Christ so that they may be made like him by the power of the Holy Spirit.

As Anglicans, we believe in the centrality of the Church. Therefore, the local church will play a central role in this mission. Students will be encouraged to participate in the life of their local church, where the Word of God is preached and the sacraments are administered.

  • At the end of an Anglican worship service, the people together will pray, “And now, Father, send us out to do the work you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord.”

Our campus missionaries long for this to be the mission of their students. They may be underclassmen who are sent to share the gospel and host bible studies amongst their friends, or they may be seniors preparing to serve as Christ’s ambassadors in whatever vocation he has called them.

No matter what, we ultimately want them to be lifelong servants and faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ.

The mission of Campus Communion is to proclaim to college students union with God and each other through the gospel of Jesus Christ by inviting, forming, and sending.
